INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE

 IPL-2020

Indian Premier League-IPL, festival of cricket in India has been concluded with Mumbai Indians being crowned the champions for the 5th time. For second year Mumbai have been the winners. In finals they convincingly defeated Delhi capitals(for 4th time this season😅😅) by 5 wickets.

The festival of cricket started on 19th September 2020 with arch rivals CSK taking on MI(Indian El Clasico). And as usual CSK started with a convincing win over their old nemesis. Action packed opening day was followed by a another exciting game between DC and KXIP which was taken to super over due to umpires error. Not only the opening two games but whole season was full of action. There were many games which were like rollercoaster rides, with no one(even players) didn't know who was going to win. Like match between Punjab and Rajasthan where Rahul Tewatia hit 5 sixes in an over to make highest successful chase in IPL. Or in an another match between Punjab and Mumbai which which was tied twice, even in super over(similar to 2019 WC final) but this time a second super over decided the winner. A must win situation arrived in all matches.

2020 has been a year of unexpected twists and surprises. Similarly in IPL 2020 we had seen many twists like CSK not qualifying for the playoffs or DC reaching the finals or two super overs in a game(sorry New Zealand😜) or 51 runs being chased in 3 overs and lastly it first time happened that all teams had equal chances for qualifying for the playoffs.

IPL is not only a festival of cricket but also a platform for youngsters to showcase their talent. Many youngsters have been selected in Indian national team due to their performances in IPL like Bumrah and Hardik Pandaya to name the few. Even in this season many youngsters proved themselves on big stage like Devdutt Padikal, Ravi Bishnoi, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad etc. And few of the good performers has been selected in Indian team due to tour Australia later this year(from 27/11/2020). T Natrajan, Sanju Samson, Mohd. Siraj all have been given chances in varoius squads due to their good performances. Not only Indians but many foreigners have also been selected into their respective national teams due to their performances in IPL.

Really a big festival of cricket 2020 has ended with lots of new opportunities for new young players whether Indians or foreigners. We also saw a bright future of Indian cricket team at world level. Hope the new faces in Indian cricket will take our team to next level.

But we should sincerely thank BCCI and Souarav Ganguly for conducting IPl in such difficult conditions.
